My Grandmother has ESP, and I believe it may be genetic. Jean, (my grandmother) grew up in a family of eight children of which she was the eldest. As fortune would have it, Jean has out-lived almost all of her siblings except her youngest sister Libby. A few years ago, Jean mentioned her abililty to predict the deaths of family memebers before or around the time they were occuring. My Grandmother described to me a day when the errie sound of a shotgun report echoed the hills around her home as she was preparing dinner for my Grandfather. Her first reaction was that someone was killing an animal beacause she lived on along the desert in Arizona where coytoes and other wild animals are known to roam. So, this shotgun fire was not too alarming to her. She herself, posessed a shotgun for safety purposes. It was only when she mentioned the noise to my Grandfather in the adjoining room that she became startled. He had not heard the shotgun report and had no clue what she was talking about. Things had been silent the entire afternoon according to his account. She dismissed his missing the sound to his old ears. (However, he was quite young at the time.) None-the-less, the mystery shotgun fire continued to bother Jean that evening. After pondering the incident for a couple of days, my grandmother got the news that one of her sisters was ill and dying in the hospital. Upon hearing this information, Jean realized that she had heard this type of gunshot report before in her past. She sat down and began to piece together the moments when she heard these loud fires with moments when her family members were injured or had died. She frighteningly realized that the occasions mirrored one another perfectly. Once she understood what the gunshot reports(in her head, as it turned out)indicated, she began to recognize their disturbing meaning. As the years went by, my Grandmother continued to hear the gunshot reports and immediately contacted family members, only to find that one cousin or another had been in a car accident, or contracted cancer of some kind, etc. Jean was also having dreams in conjunction with these gunshot reports. The dreams would suddenly emerge one night while she was sleeping, and lasted about two or three days at a time. They usually started out as blurry visions of faceless people in random places, where some type of activity would occur. As the days progressed, the dream would become clearer, with faces and locations spelled out. This clear dream would always coincide with the date of the lastest family incident. The day she would hear the shotgun report. Jean grew frustrated, she was never given enough information to prevent anything bad from happening, she was simply privy to the knowledge that this bad thing was going to occur that day. I believe this ESP is hereditary, beacuse Jean's sister Libby has experienced similar dreams throughout her lifetime. She has mentioned them to me on seperate occasions. I never mentioned Jean's stories to her until she mentioned one of her own first. Due to family arguments, Jean and Libby have no spoken to one another in years. (Until very recently) So, I know that they had not shared their experiences with one another in the past. These visions are not always disturbing, sometimes they are nothing more than the mere knowledge that a loved-one is in a safe place and doing allright. Other times it is a loved-one consoling the living and letting my Grandmother or her sister know that things in their lives will work out for the best and to keep their chins up. This special gift has been passed along to both my older sister and myself. While it is only the ability to think of a person and to pick up the phone to call them, only to find them already on the line. Or the ability to think of a song and to turn on the radio to hear it playing. Once in a while I can predict an exact conversation or situation, but that is a rare occurance. Once I asked my Grandmother why we had this gift of ESP and why others did not, and she said that she believed that each of us had the ability, but that we all must be open to these experiences before we can receive the knowledge they have to impart. How it changed my life:Just made me aware of my surroundings and others
