I dont know that much about the Jersy Devil but what you could have heard might havew been a Bigfoot or somthing like that I believe that the bigfoot is a inter-demensional creature so who's to say that there aren't diffrent kinds of them. Was there any strange smell or anything like that? that you can remember I would really like to hear more about this Jersy Devil  |

Don't you think that because of horror media images, it may have possibly been a dog growling and because you have seen sooooo many horror movies, imagined it was the Jersey Devil? This imagined creature from the alleged growl then transformed itself in your vivid imagination as a belief. Five years from today i came face to face with that horrible beast you know as the Jersey Devil. I was walking throught the Pine Barrens that night while i heard noises in the brush. I did'nt think anything of it for i have been threw there many times and have heard te deer and animals running through those parts. Then all of the sudden a giant, hideous creature runs out from the brush and starts chasing me I kept running and running and running at least for a mile and slowly i ran out of strength to move on. i was caught this evil monster had had me and there was nothing left for me to do.And thats why if you see me today walking along threw the woods you will see that I came in contact with something for across my face is the slit that the Jersey Devil left me with. |

Many birds act the same way when something gets to clost to the nest. The Jersy Devil has been considered to look like large bird, And I think that it is. Sand Hill Cranes lived in the area of Southern Jersey and are about 4' high and have n 80" wingspand. They keep to themselves, but if someone were to get to close to them they would chase the person like goose would. The crane has many features that would cause it to look like the jersey devil's decription to a certain degree. A large bird defending itself could look like the Jersey Devil. |

that sounds weird i never heard of the jersy devil till 2 weeks ago on a trail ride in californa talking about the blair witch movie i was told that it was based on the jersy devil but was changed to bliar witch i was born in jersy and never herd of the jersy devil and the girl said that jd is right out side newwork is it true |

That was a pretty good story. I live in southern Jersey and it looks they way you discribed it. My aunt lives right around the house of the Jersey Devil and one night she saw a figure rush past the house and the creature made a weird sound, similair to the one you discribed. He is real because I have seen him numerous times. |

SHE HAS VIDEO TAPE OF WHAT THEY ALL SAW THAT NIGHT.FROM THE CAMREA MANS VIEW YOU COULD SEE EYES LOOKING AT THEM.SOUNDS OF A WOLF GROWLING AT THEM.THEN CHARGED THEM.BEFORE THEY GOT THERE THEY FOUND THE REMAINS OF WHAT LOOKED LIKE DEER BONES. THIS MAN WHOM IS DISTANT RELATIVE OF THIS CREATURE ALSO THE TEAM WHERE THIS CREATURE WAS BORN THE HOUSE IS ROTTED AWAY BUT THE FOUNDATION AND THE CHIMNEYARE STILL INTACT THEY SAID THIS CREATURE HAS BEENTHERE FOR 250 YEARS SO IF YOU GO THERE.JUST REMEMBER IT KNOWS THE LAND. You people forget one thing, the T.V. show was on the FOX network. I live in NE Penn. and have been to the barrens many times(about 40) with out incident. P.S. There are people who live deep in the barrens and they are strange enough! |

| Date: 1/10/2001 5:00:00 PM i belive in the jersy devil because i seen a show on fox family called "worlds scariest places" or sumthing like that but they had 6 people in the area where the jersy devil was supposed to be. first they found bones of animals all over the ground in the one area.then they walk down a dirt lane and they heard a strange growl and its nothing like a dog or anything of that nature. so they walked down the road a bit and they pointed there flashlights in front of them and seen a pair of red eyes the eyes seemed to get closer and closer after that something started caseing them they got away but one of the girls never talk about what she saw that day because of fear |

| Date: 2/8/2001 8:06:00 PM my father in law is from southern new jersey he would ride dirt bikes on some trails in and around the pinelands.one night he stayed a little later than usual it was getting dark ,he wrecked and was starting to get back on his bike when he looked over his shoulder he saw the jersey devil looking at him .he told me it was around 5 or 6 feet tall with a kinda short tail it barely touched the ground and he had wings on his back .he rode off and never has been back since.he would not let his kids outside after dark for a couple of months.that was in the mid 70s.he told me that was when alot of hype was around about the jersey devil.he said he has not heard of anything in the papers reguarding the jersey devil since the early 80s.he heard in 81 or 82 the jersey devil was killed by the people that live in the barrens .i don't know what to believe? |

| Date: 2/16/2001 8:01:00 PM i think that the jersey devil is a cemical dna, that was created next to a cemical factory.i live in new jersey, like 10 miles away from the pinebarrens,and one day wen i was 5 years old i saw something flyng in the the trees, but i tough it was a bird or something, but sudenly it startet to howl realy loud, i got scarded and stared to run to my dad, because he was standing right there in th car, we went camping and we were about to go. then my sister went to make a biography on the jersey devil, and she said it was darck at night and she went out to smoke a cigaret, and sudenly saw something scratchin in a tree, but she tough it was a bear, but she saw a long tail,large wings, and a head with big horns, she went runing to get her camera but it left, and minutes later she herd a laoud howling, and she taped it, and wen i herd it, it was the same noise i herd 19 years back in the pinebarrens. |
