My religious upbringing makes me feel like I'm going to go to hell for saying this lol It's just something that I've always felt. I think the bible is a very entertaining story, but it was written by men who interpreted their dreams into the words of God. I have dreams that I can fly sometimes, but it doesn't mean that I can. Just like I believe that these men that wrote the bible dreamed that God spoke to them and sent them images, but it doesn't mean God really did. I think there are way too many contradictions in the bible. Think one way, but do it another way. Makes no sense to me. Also, being a woman, I take offense to alot of things said in the bible about women. If you really sit down and read the bible (which I have), it doesn't sound like the word of God, but more like a rule book thought up by close-minded prejudiced men. No, I'm not a raging feminist or anything, I just take offense to some of the things said in the bible.What does this have to do with the story? lol um..... nothing :) |

And in response to the last reply...the bible was written by men and to a great extent God has been created in man's image as that makes things more simple for the common person to understand. The old testament god was modeled on the patriarchical sytem....with a harsh, desert people struggling to survive creating God to resemble the prophets who were supposedly God's only legitimate spoksmen.  |

If you don't believe in God, Then what are you worried about going to hell for? If you don't believe in what the bible teaches, then what are you worried about? You guys aren't christians. And for the vegitarians who eat chicken, you're not vegitarians. Stop wandering and live. What if, we live inside a little jar on a shelf? Who cares? For those of you who try to imagine something diffrent in life, get off your butt and do something with it! Quit dreamin' and wake up. For those of you who think that nothin' "can't" happen in a human life, I feel bad for you. Alot can happen. Someone can walk up to you and shoot you in the face. How's that for something happening in a human life? You can look in life in many ways, it's when you start believing the alternative that's going to get you into trouble. So what's the questions that are driving you nuts? What secrets of the universe do you want to unlock? It's not important where we came from. It's not important what you want. What is important is where are you going. Why go on a road that leads nowhere? Let me ask you something. If you heard a loud voice talk to you while milking a cow, would you believe it was God? What if the voice came to you in a dream? Would you believe it was God? What if...it wasn't a loud voice,but written words on a sheet of paper? Would you believe it was God? What about faith? When you go to the doctor, do you believe in his ability to make you well? Do you have faith in that doctor? Why is it so hard to believe that God's voice is written on sheets of paper in the bible? Why is it so easy to have faith in Martha Stewart's cook book than God's cook book for eternal life? For the person who thinks that the world could be nothing but our imagination, when was the last time you imagined turning off you computer and opening up the bible and aplying it to your own life? I've got news for you folks, quit thinking about what if... quit thinking about this world and start thinking about the next world. Did you hear about the jewish guy who was killed because people thought he was thinking out side the box? They nailed him to a piece of wood. He died for you and me. When was the last time your best friend died for you?If you are a christian, then you need to rededicate your life to Jesus. It's ok to be diffrent, just don't lose eternity because you want to follow the flow. For those of you who don't know Jesus, get to know him. I bet you your the questions that weigh heavy in your heart will be answered. - Jedi Master |

God wants you to ask questions and he will answer them I wrote this story because i do believe and I also wonder too that is not a crime. The probelem with your reply is you didn't think. You cannot be a christian in one hand and say that you don't believe in the bible in the other. | Date: 10/10/1999 1:09:00 PM I wanted to respond to Jedi Master's reply. I am seventeen. When I was a child, I went to church, read the Bible, and lived the life of a Christian. As I continued my spiritual journey I began to dislike the way the majoity of the Christians I knew were behaving. Soon I stopped going to church, reading the Bible, and became very distant from Christianity as a whole. Now I am lost in life and have been interested in "evil". I am not blaming anybody but myself, however, I would like to say that the Christians that act in the manner that you speak of have turned me away from Christianity. Parakee speaks the truth...teenagers want to see Christians that are like her. She keeps it real, yet is an unbiased Christian. More power to you girl. |

Let me get this straight...You were a chistian, you read the bible, and because you do not agree with it, you turned away, you are no longer a christian, you are "evil" and look up to parakee. What's wrong with this picture? Does anyone read my comments? I- NEVER-SAID-I-WAS-A-CHRISTIAN! You assume. That has got to be the lamest comment ever made by someone. "now I am lost, and looking towards evil" I don't believe you. If this is true, then you were NEVER a christian to begin with. Stop saying " I was..." " I am.." I turned away from God, because if she/he was the loving spirit that everyone claims he/she is then s/he wouldn't have let that happen. How can I respect someone that has taken the people that I loved the most? I can't. That is why I am no longer a Christian...not "just because". |

Jedi, man you really need to learn to read more carefully. The first words I wrote were: I believe in God and was "raised" Christian. You start spouting that if I don't believe in God I shouldn't worry about going to hell. READ MORE CAREFULLY! If you're not a christian, how can you say that certain people aren't christian? How would you know? Do you know what the definition of a christian is? One who believes and is baptized in Christ. I believe and have been baptized, so don't say I'm not a christian. What I said was, I have problems fully believing in the bible. The Bible is a book written by men, and has nothing to do with my personal faith in God. I don't believe in God because I read stories about Him in a book, I believe because I know in my heart that He's there. I look around and see all the things he's created. A mountain or the ocean is more proof to me that God exsists than stories in a book. |

Now, I'm going to address the person who lost her family and only her. I am very sorry that you lost your family the way you did. We all lose loved ones at one point in our lives. We all die. We're born, we live, and we die. What matters is what you do with your life. If at one time you beleived that God created the heavens and the earth, then surly you believed that we are all God's children. When Jesus was dying on the cross, he also cried out to his father. " My God...why have you forsaken me?" Do you honestly believe he left him? His OWN son was dying. I am sure you must have at one point beleived that God left Jesus on the cross to take away our sin. He hung there like a slaughtered lamb; a sacrafice. Was what Jesus did in vain? Jesus was God's only immidiate family yet he let him die to save YOU and YOUR FAMILY. So you see, you didn't turn from God, he's still waiting for you with open arms. The only one you turned away from, was yourself. You'll lose eternity if you follow a dead end road.-Jedi |

This should go along with your post, and might make you think. About two weeks ago I had a dream that I was setting in this room, I was detained for some reason. As person who had a gun was leaving out the side door. A normal sized brown door with a large 14X16 approx. sized window. He was almost completely out the door and I started to feel relieved. Just then, he came back in and shot me in the back of the head. Then everything around me went black. I remember thinking to myself "that didn't hurt, how strange. why didn't that hurt?" Then I thought, "well am I dead? I must be dead." I felt a twinge of panick in my stomach and thought, "so what is going to happen now?" I had no more completed that thought then I woke up in my bed, fully coherent. I still can't figure it out. How does that trip your trigger? cheers, eimaj...  |
