Brother-in-law Killed by a Hit & Run in Puerto Rico   Author: 800  Category:(Crimes) Created:(10/3/1999 11:50:00 PM) This post has been Viewed (1652 times) On March 16, 1998, my brother-in-law Orlando Albino Rodriguez, also known as Junior, was killed when he was struck by a hit and run vehicle in a section they call "La Loma" near road 116th in the town of Ensenada, Guanica, Puerto Rico. The family believes it might have been planned since several of his neighbors had heard an individual threated to kill him several times. At night, Junior would usually go up to "La Loma" with his binoculars to search for UFO's. The neighbors usually talked about the UFO sitings. His body was thrown more than 200 feet. His head had several fractures. He had a broken arm and both of his legs were broken just above the ankles. His pants were torn off. There was no sign of blood except for a drop the size of half dollar. He had a severe gash on his head from the front of his head to the back of his ear. He also had several stab wounds on his side along with other trama and numberous contusions. Several pieces of the auto that hit him were found on the road. The police just wanted to label it a hit and run and close the case. We know the police in the United States make mistakes and are not perfect but these cops in Puerto Rico are just...(you fill in the blanks). There are several detectives in our family who work in New York. Their theory is that he was more than likely picked up from the location he was sightseeing and killed elsewhere which is why there was no major blood at the scene. From the marks on the body he looked like he had been hit with a blunt object like a bat on his legs causing the fractures above the ankles and his broken arm. The gash on his head could have been done with a machete which is used alot in Puerto Rico. The body did not have any drag marks consistant with those of a person being struck or hit by a car. This case is still open but the police just sit on their ass (excuse the language). If anyone has any information about this crime please post the information. It would be greatly appreciated. I believe that there might be a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual/s but I am uncertain at this time. How it changed my life: It really hasn't affected me because I only met him several times. But it has affected his family hard. Especially is younger sister who lived in the same house. She has suffered numberous breakdowns. His mother who is an elderly woman has also suffered. It was a very scary situation with her because she had just had open heart surgery two months prior to her son's death. And my husband has also suffered a great deal.
