I was at my local Emerald City Smoothy place a couple days ago and was tryin to decide what to drink. The mocha one sure sounded good! My bf that was with me said "That's sure alot of calories..you sure?" I was like "WHAT?? Where do you see that?"

And to my suprise..its listed..right under the item menu. 540 some calories for this mocha smoothy. WOW! Thats almost 1/2 my daily intake of calories..no thank you. Needless to say, I got the banana/strawberry smoothy that was half that in calories.

I have heard some places have food nutrition listed...maybe on their website..but wouldnt it be helpful if it was listed right there SMACK on the menu??

"Bacon Cheese Burger, with tomatoes, lettuce, Mayo, BBQ sauce, Onion rings and fries, $12.99 and 1345 calories.."

I'd sure like to see that!

OR what about Mcdonalds/burger king/taco time/arbys listing their calorie count?

I dont think it will help EVERYONE...but I know for sure it helped me. I got the fruity smoothy didnt I? :)

What do you think?

Date: 11/18/2008 8:38:00 PM  From Authorid: 42945    A great idea I'd say...
Date: 11/18/2008 9:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 3263    I think they're supposed to be moving towards doing this everywhere. I could be wrong though! I think it's a good idea..

Date: 11/18/2008 10:03:00 PM  From Authorid: 26542    Some of McDonald's foods already have their nutritional value listed on the packaging. I was eating a sausage McGriddle the other morning (I'd slept in and was in a rush) and when I stopped to read the wrapper I discovered that I had consumed about 400 calories! Needless to say, I had salad for lunch!

If it is not listed on the menu or the packaging most resteraunts should have a nutritional guide that they can give to their customers. If not the information is available online.

Date: 11/18/2008 10:47:00 PM  ( Admin )   Hekler.. You had Chinese buffet? wow Canada is strange.. We have Chinese FOOD buffets here. I don't think I could eat a person.. :P
Date: 11/18/2008 10:54:00 PM  From Authorid: 23963    I like your suggestion and idea...most restaurants I had worked for didn't list them on the menu, but if you asked about it...they would provide with a nutritional menu listing all those facts. Usually you just have to ask and someone can find out for you. Also it is wonderful to see you PJ!! *Hugs*
Date: 11/19/2008 1:13:00 AM  From Authorid: 37150    Yeah we're supposed to list calories where i live too, but i work at a restaurant and I don't see it listed. *shrug* I gotta ask my managers about that. The molten chocolate cake we have is 1600 calories. LOL. junk food tastes so good because it's bad for you! Yum ;-P
Date: 11/19/2008 4:27:00 AM  From Authorid: 64162    Lol. Sometimes I don't think I wanna know what's in what I'm eating.. But its a good idea and they should do it everywhere..especially since we're so health conscience these days.
Date: 11/19/2008 8:12:00 AM  From Authorid: 3901    I work at Little Caesar's (a pizza place for those that don't know) And right next to our cash register is a list of everything on the menu and all the nutritional information. The only thing it doesn't delve into are personal pizza's where you choose your own toppings.
Date: 11/19/2008 10:23:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 12103    Creech..that's not healthy eitther..only having ONE meal a day that's high in calories...
Date: 11/19/2008 10:40:00 AM  From Authorid: 63241    LOL at RAD!!! I had no idea that Hekler was a cannibal. Watch out Nani!! LOL!!!
Date: 11/19/2008 10:42:00 AM  From Authorid: 63241    I agree with you, PJ, I think it's a good idea to have the calorie listings closeby when ordering and/or eating at a restaurant.
