In some other cultures sleep paralisis is called that because the person that is paralized thinks they see an old hag on their chest. It is called many different things in many different cultures. |

My only "Old Hag" experience was accompanied by images and "recollections" of an alien abduction. I was assured (by many) that everything could be explained away by sleep paralysis...and I hope that is so. That morning I was in complete fear of the unknown. |

That happened to me just a few weeks ago, and I made a post about it. Two people said it could be Old Hag Syndrome, so I looked it up, and it sounds like what happened. It really freaked me out! |

The first time this happened I had just laid down. A friend of mine's husband had just gone down in a chopper off the coast of Galveston, and she and I had the experience at the same time, and while we were awake. As soon as the malevolence departed, she called me and I knew she was going to call. Then, it happened again when I touched my father in the anatomy lab. That night, and intermittently thereafter for awhile, I would have just laid down in bed or getting ready to, and the paralysis would hit, and I would see my father in a cloudy mist above my bed, and he would open his mouth and try to suck my soul out of me. I never saw an old hag. The first experience was with a demon lying in my bed. |

WOW! I recall a pressure of something holding me down when I was in bed. I prayed real hard and it went away. I called my pastor about it and after awhile was able to sleep. Was laying on my back and that is usually when weird things happen. |

I just realized what "OldHag" is lol. When i was in Japan(stationed). One night,i just went to bed, then all of a sudden,i felt this pull from something not sure what it was, then all of a sudden i felt my body/spirit rising above the bed,and i hear this weird sounds like bats of some sort just loud and weird.I fought back, and asked God to help me,but words will not come out and i can't even says the word of God,then all of a sudden i said"God help me!I felt my body/spirit just fell back to my body! Now that was one of them.I had another experienced, when i was at my aunt's house sleeping over night.I had my blanket pulled off of me,so i stodd up and i was like"what the hell?!"I lied back down and put the blanket back on,and then all of a sudden my blanket got pulled off again, and then i see this whole house i was in,the same house only this time it has no walls, just the frame even the lights seems to be floating on the walls.I was like"wha! Was wondering what happened, and thinking i was in anothe rplanet or something.I got up off the bed which is not a bed anymore,it seems like a bamboo wood bed like,so i started walking towards the door, and hears people talking, but very faint.I got scared,so i lied back down and coevered myself with the blanket and started praying. It took a while before i got back,as if i was truly in another planet or another time.So weird even now i cannot forget it.I ahve so many experienced, and still now i don't understand exactly what they want from me.I tell you this much everything was so vivid. |

I had it once. I was laying in bed, thought I was awake, there was a roaring noise over me, it felt like a presence of some sort was holding me down. I fought hard and finally broke free. I thought, well it's hot in here so I must have had a weird dream. So I went down into the basement where it was cooler, fell asleep and had the same thing happen. I was terrified and ran back up the stairs and sat in the living room for the rest of the night. |

I have never been held down but I usually can control my dreams. a couple of times, i thought I was making myself awaken only to repeat actions i was taking and being thrown right back into the dream. it went on and on. I actually saw myself turning on the light repeatedly one time and one time saw myself running to my sisters room. both times I eventually got it right. the time I was running to my sister's room...she was awake before I got there...she said she heard me calling. I stayed up both nights. lik I said...i can control my dream usually and think of them as facinating movies...but not these times. dont think I would like that old hag! LOL |

I had one experience where I felt like there was a big man/animal thing leaning over me. I could feel the breath and some of the prickly hairs and I couldn't move. That really scared me! |

Know of the northern European variety, personally, and from reading about the occurances cited elsewhere. Just ask. |

I have a long story about it that you can read.... http://www.unsolvedmysteries.com/usm494078.html I just watched on the Bio channel the other day about this girl who could never sleep because she always felt someone watching her and would see an old hag watching her also. I guess it is kinda common. |

I've had this happen a couple of times before. I would wake up and be able to hear and think, but I couldn't breathe, open my eyes, or move. It was actually quite scary the first time not knowing whether or not I was actually suffocating and not able to move or make noise for help. After a couple of other times of it happening I just decided it was my mind waking up just a few seconds before my body did for whatever reason. I had no idea until now this was a common thing for some people though. Good to know haha. |
