December 6, 1997 my friend, Lavonne Miller, disappeared without a trace. In the early morning hours her sister, Heather, picked up her son so she could go Christmas shopping. When Heather returned Colton home his father was outside burning trash in a barrel, and Heather assumed Lavonne was inside the house so she just dropped Colton off. A week went by and Lavonne's mother Carolyn had not heard or seen her daughter. She had spoke with her two sisters and they also confirmed they had not heard or seen her either. Carolyn called Lavonne's home and her husband, Dickie, stated over the weekend he laid down to take a nap and when he awoke she was gone and he assumed she was with one of her sisters. When Carolyn told Dickie they had not heard from her he seemed unconcerned. Carolyn then called her employer, her supervisor stated she had not been in or called in all week and therefore they assumed she quit. Carolyn then reported Lavonne to be a missing person with the sheriff's department. The sheriff's department did an area search with dogs, horses, and aircraft but could turn up nothing. Lavonne's purse was still in her home along with all forms of identification and her payroll check from the week before she had not cashed yet. The sheriff's department has brought in special cadaver dogs and contacted Sylvia Brown the pshyic, but yet to turn up any clues of what happened to her. Lavonne and I sort of drifted apart through the years but we did manage to talk every couple of months. She is the mother of two children that would never just up and leave without keeping contact with them. She loved those children more than anything. She was very, very close to her mother and sisters. I find it very hard to believe she would leave her family that loves her so very much behind. Please help this poor family find out what happened to their mother, daughter, and sister. If you need more information, please contact her parents: Garlen and Carolyn Palmer phone (870)239-5452 11 Greene 723 Road Paragould, AR 72450 or the Greene County Sheriff Dan Langston at (870)236-7612. Thank you for your consideration, Tina R. Turpin How it changed my life:I have trouble sleeping at night because Lavonne's daughter was my step-daughter at one time. I worry about Kristen having feelings of abandonment. I know her mother did not abandon her, Lavonne loved her children.
