I have visited the Ghost Road many times trying to solve where the mysterious light comes from. They say it has been proven by 60 Minutes that the light, under clear night time weather conditions, comes from a road-West Quarter Line,that travels in the same direction (N-S) as the Ghost Road, the light would be the headlights or taillights from cars travelling on the West Quarter Line Road. On a clear day you can see West Q.L. when sitting on Ghost Road(You have to stand on top of the roof of your car or a high truck). Now the times I have visited the Ghost Road we all went out to get a good thrill and thrills we did receive. I have seen the light hundreds of times. Of course the theory of the light really being vehicle lights travelling on West Q.L. crossed our minds quite frequently, so we decided to do some testing of this theory ourselves. We travelled in two cars, one positioned on Ghost Road(on a perfect spot in the road where the light had been seen on a regular basis) and the other car went to West Q.L. There were four of us, two in one car, two in the other. We syncronized our watches to be exact to the second. Now the car I was in was the one travelling to the West Q.L. It takes exactly 10 minutes to travel over to the road(we had timed this on a practice run). When we reached the highest point on the West Q.L., time exactly 11:55 pm, we turned the car around and parked and waited. At 12 midnight, we were to start the car(headlights on!) and travel down the road. As we travelled down the road our other car stationed on Ghost Road would, if the headlight theory is correct, see our headlights and it would appear to them as the ghostly light. As my companion and I quickly travelled back to Ghost Road we were greatly anticipating to hear what our friends parked on Ghost Road had seen. They told us at 11:57 pm they had seen the light shine very brightly. If you remember we reached the West Q.L. at exactly 11:55 which at this time had our position with our headlights turned off. No other cars from the time of arrival to the time of departure had ever passed us, either way on the road. They then continued to tell us that the light never appeared at 12:00 midnight when we would have been travelling down the road with our lights on for them to see. This confused all of us somewhat, bad weather could not have been the factor, for it was a beautifully warm, star-filled, summer night. No chance of fog or rain in the forcast at all. The following few nights we travelled on our mission to Ghost Road. One night we sat with binoculars and waited for our infamous light. My mother who was sitting in the back seat had the binoculars glued to her face, when the light appeared she focused in and let out a horrible screech. In her view the light appeared to be a glowing fireball, now to our view without the binoculars the light was extremely bright and much bigger than usual. Our past viewings of the light have been different every time, the light can be dull or bright, it has travelled jaggedly across the field(now if it was a vechicle on the West Q.L. how would have done that without driving into someone's house). We also have seen the light in the middle of an extremely bad snow storm, which at this time would be impossible to see car lights from West Q.L. 14 miles away We also were crazy enough to send someone out into the field in the middle of the night with the wild animals, so he could view the cars on West Quarter Line. The light came twice while he was out there, but no cars or strange lights were visible to him in the field. Strange? We still have fun telling our stories to others and althought my story to you was quite long-winded, I hope you enjoyed it.
